I am offering this Introduction to Plein Air Painting to help any watercolour painters transition/learn how to paint onsite/outside (also known as ‘en plein air painting’).
When: Tuesday May 30th – 1pm to 3pm
Where: Meet at the bandstand beside the McDougall Mill Museum (near Renfrew’s waterfall and the swinging bridge). We can sit under cover if it’s raining or sit outside if it’s not!
Class payment options:
Option 1: $35/class (I supply my standard watercolour kit plus cotton watercolour paper taped on a board)
Option 2: $30/class (you supply everything)
Here are some of the differences from our standard watercolour classes:
- No pattern provided, you will sketch your subject (and it doesn’t need to be complicated)
- You will choose and mix your own colours to paint with
- Deciding what should be in the painting and what should be left out
- This is a lesson to learn about how to get started in plein air, so a finished painting may not happen
I have 11 watercolour kits for those that choose class Option 1. Please check the list below to help you gather the items that aren’t already available in my standard kit (like chair, hat, etc.)
Class Option 2 is somewhat unlimited, but be sure you have a way to tape down your paper (it can be a wooden board or heavy cardboard as well)
Please let me know if you’d like to join this class. Payment can be by etransfer to theartfulpainter@gmail.com. Class happens rain or shine (if torrential rain we may reschedule).
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask, I’m always here to help.
